Deadline May 1st, 2010. Any manuscripts
received after that will be disqualified.
Please read guidelines carefully and fill out the electronic entry form at
the bottom of this page when submitting.
Guidelines:
Submit the first ten pages
of your unfinished or finished novel (no short stories please,) to
wetawritingcontest@gmail.com. Send as an attachment in .doc
format with one inch margins all
around, double spaced, in 12 pitch Times New Roman font. Please send the first
ten pages only, and no less than 7 pages. Stories should be previously unpublished and can be any genre,
romance, sci-fi, mystery, etc. Your name should only appear on the entry form
below and
your cover page. Also on the cover page, please put your contact information, the name
of your submission and the genre. In the header of each page of your submission, the title of your story and the page number should appear. The story title in the top left and pg.
number in top right.
Please send $10.00 per
entry this is a donation to help Ozarks Romance Authors to continue to help new
and seasoned writers to hone their skills. A portion of the proceeds will go to
the Ozarks Literary Council for scholarships for young writers. Your entry payment will be made by using the PayPal button below, you do not have to
have a PayPal account to make your payment this way. (or see above to print a
snail mail entry form.) If you have questions about
other ways to send donations, please email ora_vice_pres@yahoo.com.
You may submit up to 5 entries. Each story will receive judges comments. If you
do not want to get judges comments, please specify on your entry form or cover sheet. If not
specified, it will be assumed you want comments.
Judges comments are given solely as a guide to improving
your writing, but comments from judges should be used at the discretion of the
writer. If there is a twenty-five point or more difference between the scores,
another arbitrator will judge the entry and the highest score will be used. To
determine the winner, the top eight scoring stories will be judged by separate
arbitrators. All judges will be published authors.
You will receive a copy of the judges
scoring sheets, upon return of your entry, along with judges comments.
Ozarks Romance Authors is not responsible for comments made
by the judges. These are personal opinions only, and are not the expressed
opinion of Ozarks Romance Authors. Names of the Judges will be unknown to
entrants and shall remain so. After the contest if you want to convey comments
to them on their judging, give them thank you notes etc., please put the Judge #
in the subject box and email your comments to
wetawritingcontest@gmail.com. All will be forwarded.
